The Manchester Central Caravan & Motorhome Show 2009 will be opened by a one-of-a-kind race, pitching man against man and machine, to show why caravanning should be the only choice for anyone who wants to escape the constraints of their credit-crunched life this year.
In the first known challenge of its type, World record breaking Manchester based Escapologist David Straightjacket will pit his skills against the experts from the Explorer Group, as he attempts to shed his buckles and chains before they are able to hitch and drive away a caravan and be first onto the open road.
The stunt will demonstrate just how quick and easy it is to enjoy a holiday on wheels and break free of the daily grind this year. As the credit crunch bites and the pound loses its value overseas, UK caravanning holidays are set to become even more popular. Recent UK research shows that campsite bookings for 2009 are already up 40% on last year and the Manchester event will show locals how the fun and flexibility of a caravanning holiday need not be a struggle to achieve.
The stunt will take place on Thursday 22nd January at 11.15am and will mark the opening of the show which last year saw over 18,000 people flow through its doors over three days.
This year visitors not only witness the Great Escape but they will have the chance to get their hands on some truly sensational seasonal bargains too that are unique to The Manchester Central Caravan & Motorhome Show, with thousands of pounds of savings on new caravans and motorhomes available.
Alongside the latest vehicles, 'cara-fans' and 'motorcara-fans' will also be able to browse the lanes of exhibitors showcasing 'must have' outdoor accessories in the huge Accessory Megastore, or sit back and enjoy the cookery theatre where 'on the road' culinary expertise will be demonstrated live.
Tips and expert advice will be available from The Camping & Caravanning Club and the National Caravan Council. As well as this, visitors can take advantage of the '2009 Best Sites For… You' feature with campsite information provider www.caravansitefinder.co.uk. Three computer pods will be online at the show making it easy for would be 'cara-fans' to locate the ideal site for their 2009 holiday plans.
For those wishing to book a stay in a holiday home, many representatives from a host of parks throughout the UK will also be on site to answer questions about holiday accommodation.
With so much to do and see for the novice and professional caravanner alike, The Manchester Central Caravan and Motorhome Show 2009 will truly inspire.Tags:Caravanning
