Caravan industry takes "levers of control" to run their own exhibitions
In response to requests from the caravan industry, the NCC has set up a wholly owned subsidiary called NCC Events Ltd, to run industry exhibitions. A new NCC Motorhome and Caravan Show 25th – 30th October 2011 at ExCel, London has been launched. The Managing Director, Gary Barbe, previously worked as Events Director on the National Boat, Caravan and Outdoor Show.
The major industry manufacturers have joined forces in support of the new Motorhome and Caravan Show and have underlined this by financially underwriting NCC Events Ltd. The key underwriters are Bailey, Coachman, Elddis, Lunar, Swift and Trigano. The Caravan Club and The Camping and Caravanning Club are also 100 per cent behind the NCC and are showing their support with unprecedented marketing initiatives for the show.
NCC Events Ltd works under the vision statement "through business partnership, bring together the industry to create inspiring exhibitions for the effective promotion of caravanning to the wider consumer market".
John Lally Director General of the NCC says: "This is the most exciting and positive change for the industry. It's a win/win situation for all parties and an enormous opportunity to grow the consumer market.
"This new show will be run by the industry, for the good of the industry. Exhibitors will benefit from greatly reduced rates and there will be significantly lower show ticket prices for the consumer. I'm delighted to be involved in this project and to have the support of key players in the industry behind me."
Peter Smith, Chairman of the Swift Group, said: "Swift are 100% committed to this new show and I am thrilled that the industry has taken control of its own destiny."
Chairman of Bailey, Patrick Howard, agrees: "It's fantastic that the industry has come together and can now offer a truly co-ordinated marketing effort to drive higher consumer traffic to the show. This in turn benefits all of the industry and the visiting public will pay lower entry prices."
