New NCC Motorhome, Caravan & Camping Show Gathers Momentum

Space is selling out fast for the newly launched Motorhome, Caravan and Camping Show, which will take place 14-19 February 2012 at ExCeL, London. With low stand rates, more than 67% of the floor plan has already been reserved by exhibitors.  As a demonstration of confidence, NCC Events has signed a two-year contractual commitment to ExCeL on behalf of the industry.

NCC Events has been formed as a wholly owned subsidiary of the NCC and has received the support of all the major UK Caravan and Motorhome manufacturers. The industry now plans to run two shows a year with a major show at the NEC, Birmingham in October (11-16 October 2011) and a new regional show at ExCeL, London in February.

Birmingham’s NEC will now be the venue for the just-launched motorhome and caravan show..

NCC CARAVAN NEC 2011Birmingham's NEC will now be the venue for the just-launched motorhome and caravan show, to take place in autumn 2011.

Following the recent announcement of a new consumer-facing caravan show at ExCeL, London, the NCC (National Caravan Council) and Clarion Events Ltd (current organisers of the NEC October show), convened to consider the best way forward for exhibitors and potential show attendees.  It was clear that having two competing industry shows in October 2011 would lead to confusion for the loyal customers.

In an unprecedented move, it was agreed that the NCC will now run one national motorhome and caravan show in October and this show will be held at Birmingham's NEC. Consequently, NCC Events have agreed to move their new Motorhome and Caravan Show from ExCeL to the NEC. This speedy decision will eliminate potential confusion and ensure marketing initiatives can have clear messaging.

NCC Chairman, Rod Tucker, said: "Attendees will enjoy all the core elements of previous events, the only difference is that the October show will now be run by the industry's trade body.  There are substantial long-term strategic advantages to NCC owning the largest motorhome and caravan show in the calendar.  Without the commercial needs of an independent exhibition organiser, the NCC can drive innovation and value across every aspect of the exhibition to create compelling value to our customer base."

John Lally, NCC Director General, continued: "Our exhibition team has a strong understanding of the industry and we believe we can add great value to previously run shows, which are already extremely successful.  We are committed to continuing the excellent service Clarion has provided and that customers have come to expect.  We will now look to deliver additional value by reducing costs and further improve the customer experience."

Gary Barbe, Managing Director, NCC Events Ltd said: "We are dedicated to providing a show for the good of motorhomers and caravanners and we need to take on board feedback from exhibitors and our customers.  We are delighted to host our first show at the NEC in Birmingham, offering manufacturers and dealers the ideal place in 2011 to showcase their brand new 2012 season products."

Kathryn James, Managing Director of NEC, stated: "We are delighted to welcome this new industry show to the NEC and are confident of a great working relationship with the NCC and the show organiser because we share a common goal of understanding customer experience for our exhibitors and visitors."

For more information about the show please contact Gary Barbe, NCC Events Ltd on 0844 8094694 (office hours) or 07799 030521 (out of hours) or visit www.motorhomeandcaravanshow.co.uk.

Boating Organisation Backs The Boat & Caravan Show 2011

clip_image002

In a move that highlights the importance placed by the boating industry on the Boat & Caravan Show, the British Marine Federation (BMF) has announced it will be officially supporting the event's dedicated boat and marine hall for 2011.

Since establishing a dedicated boat hall three years ago, the Boat & Caravan Show has gone from strength to strength, showcasing a wide range of craft for those looking to enter the market for more experienced mariners.

Show director Andy Gibb adds "What makes our show unique is that we offer boating exhibitors the opportunity to showcase their products to an audience of new, potential boaters not delivered by any other show in the industry calendar – caravanners, motorhomers and campers.

"We are delighted to be working with the British Marine Federation, bringing to the Federation members a potential audience of over 83,000 visitors."

Howard Pridding, Executive Director of the British Marine Federation commented: "The BMF is pleased to support the Boat & Caravan Show at the NEC in Birmingham – an increasingly important show in the industry calendar. We look forward to working with Ocean Media to encourage BMF members to exhibit at an event that can help them develop and grow their businesses."

The Boat & Caravan Show takes place at the NEC, Birmingham from Tuesday 22 February to Sunday 27 February 2011.

Caravan industry takes “levers of control” to run their own exhibitions

Caravan industry takes "levers of control" to run their own exhibitions

In response to requests from the caravan industry, the NCC has set up a wholly owned subsidiary called NCC Events Ltd, to run industry exhibitions.  A new NCC Motorhome and Caravan Show 25th – 30th October 2011 at ExCel, London has been launched. The Managing Director, Gary Barbe, previously worked as Events Director on the National Boat, Caravan and Outdoor Show.

The major industry manufacturers have joined forces in support of the new Motorhome and Caravan Show and have underlined this by financially underwriting NCC Events Ltd.  The key underwriters are Bailey, Coachman, Elddis, Lunar, Swift and Trigano.  The Caravan Club and The Camping and Caravanning Club are also 100 per cent behind the NCC and are showing their support with unprecedented marketing initiatives for the show.

NCC Events Ltd works under the vision statement "through business partnership, bring together the industry to create inspiring exhibitions for the effective promotion of caravanning to the wider consumer market".

John Lally Director General of the NCC says: "This is the most exciting and positive change for the industry.  It's a win/win situation for all parties and an enormous opportunity to grow the consumer market.

"This new show will be run by the industry, for the good of the industry.  Exhibitors will benefit from greatly reduced rates and there will be significantly lower show ticket prices for the consumer.  I'm delighted to be involved in this project and to have the support of key players in the industry behind me."

Peter Smith, Chairman of the Swift Group, said: "Swift are 100% committed to this new show and I am thrilled that the industry has taken control of its own destiny."

Chairman of Bailey, Patrick Howard, agrees: "It's fantastic that the industry has come together and can now offer a truly co-ordinated marketing effort to drive higher consumer traffic to the show. This in turn benefits all of the industry and the visiting public will pay lower entry prices."

For more details regarding the initiative, please contact John Lally on 0844 8094694 (office hours) or 07799 030521 (out of hours) or visit www.motorhomeandcaravanshow.co.uk.

Butlin's Dividend Soars

Report from the Guardian.co.uk

The family owners behind the Butlins and Haven holiday parks are happy campers, after pocketing nearly £60m in dividends as cost-conscious Britons continued to holiday at home rather than abroad.

The "staycation" trend saw profits at Bourne Leisure, majority-owned by the Cook, Harris and Allen families, jump to £87.9m in 2009 from £54.8m, with sales up 6.3% to £791.6m – and the company forecast further growth this year.

Not only did more people decide to take their main holiday in the UK – despite the unpredictable weather – but the company also benefited from growth in short and weekend breaks. In its efforts to make the most of the trend, Bourne has continued to invest in its resorts, turning the cheap and cheerful Butlins image of Redcoats and regimented routines into something more modern.
